Community outreach is a big part of what we do as a high school FRC team. Our outreach team strives to engage and inspire members of the community to pursue STEM careers and to experience FIRST. Students interact personally with children, teachers, and professionals at many outreach events each year, sharing the message that FIRST is more than robots.

We love FIRST Tech Challenge!
Our high school team runs one FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team for Beacon Hill Middle School students. Space is limited so applications are required. The season begins in September.
There is also a high school team run by Ms. Pierce, Decatur High School's Computer Science teacher.
Please visit the Grades 7-8 (FTC) for more information.
There's more LEGOs than you think!
Decatur is home to several parent coached FIRST Lego League (FLL) teams. Volunteer coaches and mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. Teams have achieved high honors over the years, including awards at the state championship. Teams are not run by our high school team and are not year-round. We will support you with training, ongoing support from experienced alumni, and an invitation to our annual scrimmage.
Please visit Grades 2-8 (FLL) to learn more.Â
Our high school team does not coach FIRST LEGO League (FLL) teams for elementary-aged students. However, we're actively working to build awareness within the City Schools of Decatur and encourage families to help grow these programs across the district.
If you'd like to see FLL offered at your school, let your school know - parent and student interest makes a big difference. You can also work together with other families to start a team of your own. No experience is required, and there are plenty of resources to help you get started.
