Lyndon Warren, a senior at DHS, Life Scout, and 3rd-year veteran of Team 4026, is hosting a paper airplane competition for Beacon Hill Middle School students for his Eagle Project. The goal of his project is to help Decatur Robotics define an outreach event they can develop and run annually.

This event will provide a fun, engaging STEAM experience that can help people learn about aerodynamics, physics, and engineering. This competition will also encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills as participants design and test their planes.

How will this work?

Small teams will design and fold paper airplanes to compete in three events: Accuracy, Distance, and Hang Time.

Supplies will be provided and participants will construct their airplanes at the event. We will have reference materials and guides for inspiration but you are encouraged to do a little research ahead of time.

We're adding an extra mechanical touch to the competition! Students will launch their papercraft from launchers built by Scouts.

Top performing teams will be recognized.
